Jessie is reclining in front of our new and improved living room color. The cake is the humdinger I made for company last night--southern red velvet cake with a whole bottle of red food coloring and cream cheese frosting. It is ALL GONE!!! Wah!!!

Come ON, Lori! How could you not save a piece for me?
That is one of my alltime favoritest foods. I was just talking about it last nite. Never made it though, and how funny that it uses a WHOLE bottle of food coloring! Yikes! Good thing no calories in that stuff?!
Lori, I was just looking for ideas for desserts for my company next week...looks very impressive. What is your recipe from and is it really hard?
Wow! Your living room wall color looks almost exactly like ours- although I think ours is a bit lighter...and we have a blue couch too! I'll have to send you a picture...UnCANNY!
A WHOLE bottle of thet thar food colorin'???!!! Whew! A feller might oughta be keerful of how much and how fast he eats thet cake---his skin color may tend ta lean toward red. Iffen Ol' 'Lanche was to get hold of some of thet I would be hard put to explain why I was ridin' a PINK hoss!!! 8~D
Karena, there is a red devil's food cake and a southern red velvet cake. Have you had the southern? I would gladly save you a piece if you were to come out!! :) Liane, I got the recipe from the foodnetwork.com. (search for Southern Red Velvet Cake--the recipe is "courtesy Cakeman Raven"). It was easy, and the frosting was plentiful. The cakes came out of the pans beautifully, they were firm to put together, and they didn't get crumbs into the frosting when I frosted it! I would highly recommend it. It really does look impressive, and is tasty! Blue and yellow look great together, eh, Claire? Avalanche, this cake would probably give you bladder cancer if you consumed it regularly!
